About
About me and this project
I am an American baseball fan and sports card hobbyist living in Tokyo. You can call me Tony or トニー. With this blog I want to share the fascinating world of Japanese baseball with an emphasis on translation. Although Japanese baseball and baseball cards and memorabilia have been known and available to enthusiasts and collectors abroad for decades, there remains an unfortunate lack of translation of these valuable primary sources. To that end, I will strive to provide accurate and colloquial direct translations in addition to general commentary. Although this blog will focus on vintage Japanese cards and memorabilia, expect content related to contemporary Japanese baseball as well as Japanese culture and ephemera in general. I am active on Youtube at JP Wisco Baseball Cards, and can be reached at jpwiscocards@gmail.com.
A note on my translations
I am not a professional translator. While I always try to remain as faithful and objective between the texts as I possibly can, I also allow myself the freedom to embellish a bit and write a rendition of the Japanese that will sound natural and idiomatic in English. As such, translations are not always—and to be sure cannot always be—completely literal. I welcome any suggestions and corrections.
